UpNext Webinar - Caleb Surratt
Jul 24, 2024
The UpNext program provides the next generation of competitive golfers the resources they need to be the best players that they can be. With that, our members have the opportunity to engage with some of the top young professional players in the game. We recently hosted LIV Tour professional player Caleb Surratt as our latest webinar guest.
We covered Caleb's best practices, his learning experiences throughout all playing levels of his career, and how Foresight Sports technology has taken his game to new heights.
An important life lesson Caleb has learned while climbing the ranks of competitive golf is that preparation and practice are the ultimate factors in how you perform on the course. "You do your work away from tournaments. You make your practice at home as hard as possible so tournaments are as easy as possible." Caleb alludes to the fact that due diligence with practice sessions will alleviate some of the stress of tournament play.
To maximize practice sessions, Caleb utilizes his GCQuad to stay consistent in his preparation, specifically when it comes to his wedge play. "The benefit of Foresight technology is that you get the quickest reactional numbers possible on wedges. I fully believe that part of being an athlete is being able to do something, and then instantly understand what just happened," as Caleb described the critical feedback he receives from his launch monitor.
"I take my unit out on the golf course every single day. You only add about 3 minutes to your 18 hole round and get the numbers you want to see on every single shot. It's a part of my daily routine, truly."
Caleb discussed a specific drill that helps his wedge practice. "I encourage players to have a number for all 3 wedges and to play games like plus or minus 3 yards. Sit out on the range or on the golf course even and don't move until you know your exact yardage for each wedge. If your pitching wedge goes 136 yards, don't move on until you hit 134 and a half yards and 138 and a half yards. If you hit these parameters, your ball is going to always be close to the hole every time."
The full video of the webinar is posted above. We appreciate Caleb's time and look forward to rooting for him on the LIV Tour!
